Keeping in view the decisions made in a meeting (in October 2006) organized by Higher Education Commission (HEC) at Islamabad for the holding of symposium/conference for the use of statistical data for policy inputs, this conference is being arranged. Statistical and Actuarial Sciences are considered to be the backbone of decision making and presenting sustainable solutions for the rectifications of problems. The developed countries have a sound statistical /actuarial system for collection of data to the meaningful interpretation of results to obtained the statistical analysis of these collected data. Pakistan , at present, lacks in a statistical system, so our policy makers are not provided with sufficient data to design an appropriate policy whether it is economic policy or other important concerns.
