PU celebrates Int’l While Cane Safety Day LAHORE: (Thursday, October 15, 2015): Punjab University Department of Special Education on Thursday celebrated “International White Cane Safety Day”. The department organized a seminar on “Success Stories of the Persons with Visual Impairment” to sensitize the ignorant segment of society to recognize the fact of their inclusion so that they may materialize the dream of living in an inclusive world for all. Dean Faculty of Education Prof Dr Mumtaz Akhtar, In-charge Dr Humaira Bano, Prof Dr Nasir-Ud-Din, Assistant Prof Dr Samina Ashraf, faculty members and special students were present on the occasion. In her address, Dr Mumtaz said that education was the only weapon to break all the barriers to success. Visually impaired guest speakers said that disability was not inability and if they had will and determination to do anything, nobody could stop them from being achieving their goals. Dr Nasir-Ud-Din said that for us persons with special needs were equally important and respected as regular students. He said that we should not discriminate the persons with disabilities.
