All Pakistan Parliamentary Debating Championship 2016 concludes


LAHORE: (Monday, March 7, 2016): The All Pakistan Parliamentary Debating Championship 2016 organized by Punjab University Directorate of Students Affairs for the first time in the history of the university has concluded here on Monday. In this connection the concluding ceremony was held at Al-Raazi Hall here on Monday in which PU VC Dr Mujahid Kamran, Director Students Affairs Shahid Mehmood Gul, Deputy Director Syed Zubair Akram and a large number of students were present.

Punjab University hosted 52 teams across the Pakistan including GCU, FCCU, KE, LGS, FAST and LSE. Government College University won team trophies in both Urdu and English debates. Raza Gillani from the GCU was declared best Urdu speaker while Shahkar from GCU was declared best English speaker of the tournament. The team GCU consisting of Raza Gillani, Zahid Ali, Owais Malik in Urdu category whereas the team GCU English consisted of Hamza Abbas and Shahkar won the team trophy in English. SISA won the U-19 Team Trophy in English category while the Urdu category was won by LGS Model Town. Best Speaker in U-19 English category was Momina Khursheed from Beacon House ALGT whereas in Urdu category Mehreen Fatima from LGS Model Town was declared Best U-19 Urdu Speaker. Almost 52 teams and 500 students from all over the Pakistan participated in the event. In his address PU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran congratulated the successful students and lauded the efforts of Directorate of Student Affairs for organizing such a magnificent event. He affirmed that PU will continue to host such educational and productive events in future. The event was sponsored by FINCA Microfinance Bank. Later on the FINCA Microfinance Bank also distributed shirts, souvenirs, shields and trophies among the participants and adjudicators.
