PU to start BS degree in “Molecular Biology & Forensic Sciences”


LAHORE: (Thursday, April 7, 2016): Punjab University Board of Faculty of Life Sciences has approved the launching of a new 4-years BS degree program in “Molecular Biology & Forensic Sciences” in the Centre of Applied Molecular Biology. A meeting of the Board of Faculty of Life Sciences was held under the Chairmanship of Dean, Faculty of Life Sciences Prof. Dr. Muhammad Naeem Khan. The meeting was attended by Prof. Dr. Shahid Kamal, Prof. Dr. Rukhsana Kausar, Prof. Dr. Firdous-e-Bareen, Prof. Dr. Javed Iqbal Qazi, Prof. Dr. Saleem Haider, Prof. Dr. Anjum Naseem Sabri, Dr. Shakeel, Dr. Tayyab Husnain, Dr. Mehjabeen Saleem, Dr. Idrees Khan and others.

In a press statement, Prof Dr Naeem Khan said that the 4-year degree program was the need of the hour as Pakistan was facing terrorism and modern techniques and knowledge of forensic sciences played vital role in investigation of various crimes. He said that the degree program will help in identifying the culprits involved in various crimes. He said that health and agriculture sectors would also benefit from the degree program designed on modern lines.
