PU CSAS organizes lecture on “Pak-Afghan Relations”


LAHORE: (Tuesday, November 8, 2016): Punjab University Centre for South Asian Studies (CSAS) organized a lecture on “Pakistan-Afghanistan Relations and Stability in South Asia” in its auditorium here on Tuesday. Dr. Marvin G. Weinbaum, Professor Emeritus of Political Science, University of Illinois, USA was the key note speaker while Director CSAS Prof. Dr. Umbreen Javaid, faculty members, Mphil and Phd scholars of the centre, Department of Political Science and Pakistan Study Centre were also present on the occasion. In his address Dr. Marvin G. Weinbaum said that peace and security of Pakistan and Afghanistan are interlinked. Although, Pakistan has some influence on some factions of Afghan Taliban and can use her influence to bring them on negotiation table but cannot impose her decision on them. However, Pakistan and America consider that the only solution of Afghanistan’s problem is to reach an agreement through open talks, he added.
