PU ORIC: Workshop on Entrepreneurship


Entrepreneurship is process of designing, launching and running a new business which typically begins as a small business, such as a startup company, offering a product, process or service for sale or hire, and the people who do so are called 'entrepreneurs'. It is capacity and willingness to develop, organize, and manage a business venture along with any of its risks in order to make a profit. Entrepreneurship typically focus on the launching and running of businesses, due to the high risks involved in launching a start-up, a significant proportion of businesses have to close, due to lack of funding, bad business decisions, an economic crisis -- or a combination of all of these or due to lack of market demand.
Office of Research Innovation & Commercialization (ORIC) arranged a workshop on Entrepreneurship for the students of faculty of Engineering & Technology and faculty of Economics and Management Sciences University of the Punjab, Lahore on 8th November 2016 at seminar hall Institute of Chemical Engineering & Technology.
Director ORIC Prof. Dr. Aamir Ijaz welcomes the participants from Jehulam Campus, Gujranwala Campus, ICET, IQTM, Department of Economics, IAS, MME, IBA and IBIT. The resource person of this workshop was Prof. Dr Ali Sajid, he is a Professor of Management & Leadership, a Corporate Trainer, and Community Development volunteer & Motivational speaker. He has BS in Mechanical Engineering from UET, Lahore & did his MS & PhD in Engg Management from George Washington University, USA. He has experience of teaching in various Universities. He also worked in World Bank USA. Dr Sajid has a unique honor to conceive & launch 3 most successful Management Schools at NUST, CASE, Islamabad & then IBM at UET, Lahore.
This four hours introductory course will help participants how entrepreneurs use new opportunities to develop new products or services, launch new firms or even new industries and create wealth. Course will broadly address, historical evolution, relationship between Small business & entrepreneurship, Entrepreneurial behaviors, various strategies that entrepreneurs use including innovation of new products, services or processes, use of technology, use of Business Intelligence, Development of future products and services, Project entrepreneurship, Financing etc.
The students got a lot of knowledge and business tips through performing the different activities of workshop. Certificates were also given to the participants after the workshop.
