Closing Ceremony: 4th In-Service Faculty Training Program, University of the Punjab

The 4th In-Service Faculty Training Program has been completed at the department of Microbiology & Molecular Genetics (MMG), University of the Punjab, Lahore. There were two core modules in this training program.
 
• Patent System of Pakistan and Patent Filing (Resource Person: Ms. Shakra Khurshid)
 
• Communication Skills (Resource person: Prof. Dr. Hamid Rafiq Khattak)
The training program was organized for the young and mid-career university faculty. Forty faculty members from various departments/Institutes/ Centers/ Colleges of the Punjab university and other universities participated in this program. Addressing to the certificate distribution ceremony, Prof. Dr. Amir Ijaz (Director ORIC) said that such training activities are the key component of professional grooming. He emphasized on the need of the patent filing and entrepreneurship and highlighted its importance for the university and for the overall society. He encouraged the participating faculty members to patent their research and play their role for the upgradation of university ranking. Prof. Dr. Anjum Nasim Sabri, (Chairperson Department of MMG) appreciated the participating faculty for their active participation and motivation during the workshop. She also gave some useful tips to young faculty members and emphasized that university teachers should manage their time for departmental administrative duties, academics and research and should focus on the training of their students. She emphasized that in current scenario only good publications are not sufficient rather patents are also necessary for the upgradation of the overall national and international ranking of the varsity. She appreciated the efforts of program coordinators (Dr. Imran Sajid: Assistant Professor, MMG) and suggested that in future such programs should continue on regular basis. She further acknowledged the financial support and encouragement from the Vice Chancellor, University of the Punjab, for such activities.
