Special children need special attention: PU VC


LAHORE: (Thursday, March 9, 2017): Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Zafar Mueen Nasir has said that it was an obligation on our society to give special attention to special children and we must take care of their special needs.

He was addressing the sports gala of special children organized by PU Child Welfare Centre here on Thursday. Dean Faculty of Education Prof Dr Mumtaz Akhtar, Incharge Special Education Dr Humaira Bano, Principal Child Welfare Centre Ayesha Wajeehullah, Chairman Special Olympic Games Punjab Anees ur Rehman, faculty members and parents of special children were present on the occasion.

Addressing the ceremony, Dr Zafar Mueen Nasir said that special children had special capabilities and we must polish their special talent. He said that our special children had shown outstanding performance in sports which was clear proof of their hidden talent.

He announced one hundred thousand rupees for teachers and staff looking after special children at CWC. Addressing the ceremony, Prof Dr Mumtaz Akhtar said that CWC’s special children had won 63 gold medals, 78 silver medals and 62 bronze medals in Special Olympic Games Punjab.

She said that individual level attention was being paid to special children at CWC. Later, PU VC Dr Zafar Mueen Nasir distributed prizes among wining special children who participated in different games.
