Pakistan could not prosper without women: PU VC


LAHORE: (Wednesday, March 15, 2017): Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Zafar Mueen Nasir has said that Pakistan cannot progress without women’s active role in our society. He was addressing Pakistan Day Speech Competition jointly organized by Institute of Administrative Sciences and Stylo shoes at Al Raazi Hall here on Wednesday. Dean Faculty of Economics and Management Sciences Prof Dr Nasira Jabeen, Director Stylo shoes Javed Iqbal, faculty members and competitors from various public and private universities were present on the occasion.

The theme of the competition was “Role of Women in the Development of Pakistan” while Fatma Mudassar from Lahore School of Economics, Muhammad Ali Nasir from University of Management and Technology, Dr AR Jaffery from Institute of Administrative Sciences and renowned anchor Hamza Tarar were judges of the competition. In his address, Dr Zafar Mueen Nasir said that women must be empowered and their due rights must be given to them. He said that our students must play their role in creating awareness regarding women rights in their areas. He said that no society could witness development without participation of women. Dr Nasira Jabeen said that Quaid-e-Azam had stated that “no nation can rise to the height of glory unless your women are side by side with you. We are victims of evil customs. It is a crime against humanity that our women are shut up within the four walls of the houses as prisoners.” She said Quaid-e-Azam had also stated “no struggle can ever succeed without women participating side by side with men.” In Urdu speech competition Usman Aqeel clinched 1st position while in English Ms Fizza obtained 1st position.
