PU CSAS organizes book launching ceremony


LAHORE: (Wednesday, May 10, 2017): Punjab University Centre for South Asian Studies (CSAS) in collaboration with Lahore Council for World Affairs Pakistan organized a book launching ceremony titled “Pakistan and a World in Disorder- A Grand Strategy for the Twenty- First Century” by former Ambassador Javid Husain at its auditorium here on Wednesday. Director CSAS Prof Dr Umbreen Javaid, Director Pakistan Study Centre Prof Dr Massarrat Abid, former Ambassador & Foreign Secretary Shamshad Ahmad, President Lahore Council for World Affairs Pakistan Javid Husain, faculty members, students and MPhil/Phd scholars of CSAS and Department of Political Science were present. In her address Prof Dr Umbreen Javaid said that it was honor for the centre to launch such a valuable book on contemporary issues of world and regional politics written by a renowned ambassador. She also suggested all the students as well as faculty members to minutely study the book available in the library of the centre. Shamshad Ahmad appreciated the launching of so comprehensive and elegant book on the subject of “Pakistan and a World in Disorder- A Grand Strategy for the Twenty- First Century” with fresh thinking that generally makes to breath fresh air in the unlettered society where ‘kitab ghars’ are being replaced by ‘kabab ghars’. Dr Massarrat Abid said that writer has presented the analysis of Pakistan foreign policy in the light of his personal experiences highlighting the historical as well as geographical aspects along with giving very appropriate definition of our national interests. She said that the most informative as well as pragmatic study is significant addition that will help policy makers, academicians and students of foreign policy. Lahore Council for World Affairs Pakistan President Javid Husain indicated the salient features discussed in the book. He said that he tried to delineate a workable strategy to meet the challenges that Pakistan foreign policy is currently facing. He said that in current scenario a strong economy would ensure the security of Pakistan for economic development is the key to our national security.
