PU scientists visit Uganda LAHORE: (Wednesday, June 14, 2017): Punjab University Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology (CEMB)’s scientists Prof Dr Idrees Ahmad and Prof Dr Tayyab Husnain have visited Uganda to train their local cotton scientists & farmers on the cotton crop management. This workshop was a part of cotton training program being organized by SESRIC, OIC. In a press statement, Prof Dr Idrees Ahmed and Dr Tayyab Husnain have said that genetically improved cotton and transgenic technology developed by CEMB are receiving superior reputation in the region and around the Islamic world. They said that Ugandan authorities were now hopeful for a possible transgenic technology transfer from Pakistan. They said that this technology sharing would pave the path for a further scientific and agricultural cooperation between Pakistan and other African nations. They said that PU CEMB was firmly committed to extend scientific cooperation in the field of Genetically Modified Crop technology with mutually beneficial objectives to all the OIC countries for a more prosperous, shared and greener future.
