PU, Amal sign MoU for skill development


LAHORE: (Thursday, July 6, 2017): Punjab University Department of Information Management (DoIM) and Amal Academy have signed a memorandum of understanding to run Amal Academy’s career-prep fellowship program initially funded by Stanford University for the students of DoIM. In this regard, an MoU signing ceremony was held at committee room of Vice Chancellor’s office in which PU VC Dr Zafar Mueen Nasir, DoIM Chairperson Prof Dr Kanwal Ameen, Dr Mohammad Rafiq, Director External Linkages Dr Fauzia Hadi Ali, Amal Academy Chief Executive Officer Benje Williams and Ali Siddique were present on the occasion.

The program focuses on developing job skills including communication, interviewing, CV writing, mindset etc of students entering the job market. The collaboration will result in convenient and consistent venue for PU and other students to participate in the program and build skills that would help them realize their potential and achieve their career aspirations. Addressing the meeting, Dr Zafar Mueen Nasir said that it would formalize the PU role as a progressive frontrunner in bridging the academia-industry skills gap amongst students. Chairperson DoIM Dr Kanwal Ameen said that the partnership would highlight DoIM’s role in driving initiatives that go beyond departmental boundaries and university enrollment to benefit all students regardless of their affiliation status.
