Action against violent students taken on merit: spokesman


LAHORE: (Friday, March 9, 2018): A Punjab University spokesman has said action against students, who were found involved in the incidence of violence on January 22, was taken as per law, rules and regulations without any prejudice. In a press statement, he said that the administration would not tolerate any pressure from any student organization. In a press statement, the spokesman said that the students were expelled on the basis of strong evidences however they had their lawful right to file appeals with the vice chancellor. He said that a heavy majority of Baloch/Pashtun students were peaceful and they were serious students. He said that around 600 Baloch/Pashtun students were studying in the university while the administration has expelled only 4 students who were found guilty of creating violence in the university. He said that only 8 to 10 persons belonging to their groups were trying to create problem with the help of outsiders. On the other hand, he said, the administration expelled 13 students belonging to other student organization. He said that the administration was determined to maintain peace and tranquility on campus at all cost.
