PU’s senior professors meet to improve university ranking

LAHORE: (Wednesday, October 31, 2018): In a rare move, the Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmed has chaired a meeting of professor emeritus at his office for seeking their suggestions for improving the ranking of the university. As many as 17 Professors of Emeritus, who have achieved excellence in their relevant fields, participated in the meeting. Addressing the meeting, the professors gave various suggestions for improving international ranking of the university.

They said that the administration seems serious in improving the ranking of the university and that’s why all the relevant stakeholders were being consulted and taken into confidence. They congratulated PU administration, faculty members and students on 39 times improvement in QS World Universities Rankings’ Asian ranking of the universities released recently. They said that the external interference must be eliminated which would allow universities to grow academically in smooth manner. They urged the federal and provincial governments to increase financial assistance to the universities and fund research and development projects. The VC thanked the professors for their input and said that their suggestions would be seriously considered for improving ranking of the university.
