PU IAGS organizes conference


LAHORE: (Wednesday, November 30, 2016): Punjab University Institute of Agricultural Science (IAGS) in collaboration with International Potash Institute (IPI), Switzerland has organized two-day International Conference on “Significance of Potash use in Pakistani Agriculture” under the umbrella of Office of Research, Innovation & Commercialization (ORIC). Dr. Noor-ul-Islam, Chief Executive, Punjab Agricultural Research Board (PARB), Director Prof. Dr. Javed Iqbal Qazi, Dean, Faculty of Life Sciences, Prof. Dr. Sajid Rasheed Ahmad, eminent agricultural scientists from all over Pakistan, faculty members and a large number of students participated in the conference. Dr. Muhammad Arshad Javaid from UTM, Malaysia also participated in the conference as foreign delegate, whereas Mr. Hillel Magen from IPI, Switzerland and Prof. Richard Bell from Australia participated in the conference through video link.Director IAGS Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saleem Haider presided-over the conference while Dr. Sajid Ali, conference secretary briefed the participants about the objectives of the conference. While addressing on the occasion, Director, IAGS threw light on the importance of nutrients particularly potash in Pakistani agriculture in his inaugural speech.In the concluding session, Mrs. Saba Sadiq, Chairperson, Child Protection & Welfare Bureau was the chief guest whereas Ch. Afzal Gill, Chairman, Standing Committee on Agriculture, Government of the Punjab and Dr. Muhammad Anjum Ali, Director General, Agriculture Extension and Adaptive Research were the guests of honor. The certificates among the participants, organizers and sponsors were distributed through the guests. In the end, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saleem Haider thanked the guests and participants. He also thanked the organizers for successful organization of the event.
