PU CSAS organizes online seminar

LAHORE: (Monday, October 05, 2020): Punjab University Centre for South Asian Studies (CSAS) has organized an online seminar on “Religious Persecution of Minorities in India & Implications of Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA)”. CSAS Director Prof Dr Umbreen Javaid, Head of Department, Strategic Studies, National Defence University Islamabad Dr Asma Shakir Khawaja, Dr Salma Malik from Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad were the speakers on the occasion while the seminar was attended by faculty members and MPhil/PhD scholars.
Dr. Asma Shakir Khawaja enlightened the students on the Modi’s Hindutva Policy for India. Modi’s report card is based on “Gao Raksha”, “Ram Mandir Construction”, and Citizenship Amendment Act. All these provoke anti-Muslim rhetoric that has internal and external implications, and it is a potential threat to regional peace. Dr. Salma Malik briefly talked about the Citizenship Amendment Act and its implications on Indian Muslims. Modi is concerned only with BJP’s manifesto and trying his best to convert Indian constitution into RSS ideology. With the implementation of CAA, Indian Muslim youth is most persecuted minority.
