PU makes 54-point jump in QS Asia Ranking


LAHORE: (Wednesday, November 25, 2020): Hitting a new mark of excellence, Punjab University has improved its Asian ranking issued by QS World Universities Rankings and now it stands on 178th position, making a considerable jump of 54 points in just two years. According to a press release issued here on Wednesday, PU was ranked 232 in 2018 ranking of Asian universities and it has improved its ranking manifold in a period of just years. In a press statement, PU VC Prof Niaz Ahmad said that the initiatives the administration had taken for improvement in international ranking had started bringing fruit. He said that due to promotion of research culture, the research publications of the university had increased, teacher-student ratio had been maintained, appointments of PhD degree holders as faculty members had been made and collaboration with international organizations had been enhanced, which had mainly contributed to university’s rapid improvement in QS Asian ranking. He said that the university was making rapid progress in all the disciplines. He said that PU was full of potential and its ranking would be improved further in the upcoming world ranking. He said that the university administration has focused on good governance, restoration of PU’s academic excellence and research with socio-economic impact. He said that the university had regulated all statutory bodies of the university and all its organs were fully functional. He said that streamlining the university’s system would help improve international ranking of the university. He appreciated to Chairman Ranking Committee Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood for making efforts to improve university’s ranking and congratulated PU faculty members, employees and students on this achievement.
