Visit of the Consulate Members from the Embassy of Azerbaijan


A two-member delegation of diplomats, consisting of  Mr. Ekhin Mehdiyev and Mr.Faziz Jafaroo, from the Embassy of Azerbaijan from islamabad, Pakistan visited the Reginal Integration Centre (RIC), University of Punjab, Lahore on Saturday, February 20th, 2021.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saleem Mazhar, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, University of Punjab, and Dr. Fouzia Hadi Ali, the Director Reginal Integration Centre, welcomed the delegation  at the office of Pro-Vice-Chancellor.
In his welcome remarks, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saleem Mazhar said that University of the Punjab is the oldest seat of higher learning in the South Asia that has produced two Nobel laureates.  He further emphasized the strengthening of Academic Relations between Azerbaijan and Pakistan by exploring the avenues of collaboration that may include academic cooperation between scholars of both countries, student exchange programs, and joint research projects for Azerbaijan and Pakistan students. He also opined that the foreigners who visit Pakistan take back a good impression of our country and ultimately become our ambassadors. He said that PU intends to establish academic relations with the Azerbaijan universities, and PU is ready to extend full cooperation. He said that since education has no boundaries, so we must enhance our academic relations. He stressed the need to increase the number of exchange programs for students and teachers. He said that PU was focusing on cutting-edge research to solve real-time problems faced by the country and society. He said that the number of international students is increasing in PU, and we waived off the students' fee. He said that PU charges a nominal fee from the international students and provides the best possible facilities. Dr. Fouzia Hadi Ali further explained RIC's importance and vision and shared future ideas to enhance collaboration.
Meanwhile, Mr. Elchin Mehdiyev conveyed regards from the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Pakistan. He shared that the Azerbaijan people are very familiar with the Pakistani flags and claim Pakistan to be their friend.
Later, RIC also arranged a visit for the whole Quaid-e-Azam campus for the consulate members. Tokens of appreciation, shields and flower bouquets were presented to the diplomats by the Pro-Vice-Chancellor.
Ms. Fatima Filza (AR- Admission Cell PU) and Ms. Tashfeen Fatima (AR-PVC)  also accompanied the diplomats for their visit.
