PU ranked among top 101-150 universities in petroleum engineering - QS ranks PU’s 13 subjects for the first time


LAHORE: (Thursday, March 4, 2021): With inclusion of 13 subjects in international ranking for the first time, Punjab University has hit the new landmarks in the latest subject wise positions of universities across the globe ranked by QS World Universities Rankings. In 2018, PU’s three subjects were ranked for the first time in subject-wise ranking of the universities while in the 2021 ranking issued by The QS on Thursday, PU’s another 10 departments had been ranked among the top institutions of the world. According to 2021 QS ranking, PU has been ranked among top 101-150 institutions in the world in the subject of Petroleum Engineering, which is an extra ordinary achievement. The QS data reveals that PU has been ranked 251-300 in Pharmacy and Pharmacology, 351-400 in Chemical Engineering, 301-350 in Agricultural and Forestry, 401-450 in mathematics, 451-500 in Biological Sciences, 451-500 in Natural Sciences, 401-450 in Environmental Sciences, 451-500 in Business and Management Studies, 501-520 in Social Sciences and Management, 501-550 in Computer Science and Information System, 501-550 in Chemistry. In this regard, a high level meeting was chaired by PU Vice Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmad at Al Raazi Hall in which heads of teaching departments participated. Addressing the meeting, the VC congratulated teachers for this outstanding achievement of the university for the first time in international ranking. He said that the QS ranking data stated that the university had performed very well even during COVID-19. He said that through the restructuring of the university, maximum opportunities had been provided by the administration to all senior faculty members and staff to excel and work better for improvement in international ranking of PU. He also appreciated the efforts of Chairman Ranking Committee Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood. The participants also congratulated the vice chancellor for his policies for promotion of research culture and ensuring transparency in all matters which have mainly contributed to the rapid growth of Punjab University in just two and a half years.
