“Role of GIS and Remote Sensing in Forest Management” a lecture conducted under RSGCRL’s ICBPD programme


Dr. Syed Muhammad Irteza, a Research Associate from Remote Sensing, GIS and Climatic Research Lab (National Center of GIS and Space Applications), University of the Punjab, Lahore, gave a lecture on ‘Role of GIS and Remote Sensing in Forest Management’ in the seminar on World Wildlife day arranged by the Department of Wildlife and Ecology, University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences – UVAS under Lab’s "Institutional Capacity Building and Professional Development Programme (ICBPDP)".
Dr Muhammad Zahid, Deputy Director Wildlife, Punjab Wildlife & Parks Department, and Dr Arshad Javid, Chairman, Department of Wildlife and Ecology, University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) also delivered a public lecture on the topic "Sustainable people and planet: legislative approaches".
United Nations General Assembly in its resolution UN 68/205 decided to declare 3 March, the day of the adoption of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), as World Wildlife Day. In order to raise awareness of the world's wild fauna and flora among students and the general public, the Department of Wildlife and Ecology celebrated World Wildlife Day on March 3, 2021 (Wednesday) with its theme ‘Forests and Livelihoods: Sustaining People and Planet’.
Chairman Department of Wildlife and Ecology Dr Arshad Javid arranged an awareness walk for all students and faculty members in UVAS, C Block Ravi Campus Pattoki.
This activity of public lecture is in support to the vision of the Vice-Chancellor, University of the Punjab to enhance the public sector institutional capacity building and develop linkages with industry and services sector organisations.
