PU organizes food safety seminar

LAHORE: (Thursday, September 8, 2022): Punjab University Department of Food Sciences in collaboration with Global Alliance for improved nutrition (GAIN), Punjab Food Authority and National Alliance for safe food (NASF) has organized a seminar on ‘Food safety: Our national responsibility’. On this occasion, Chairman Department of Food Sciences Dr Shinawar Waseem Ali, GAIN Pakistan’s Faiz Rasool, Director technical, PFA Ghulam Mustafa Dogar, NASF’s Rana Awais Khan, CEO Yum traders Nighat Jawad, GM Friesland Campina Engro. Pakistan Dr Muhammad Nasir, from Cakes & Bakes Mustajab Ahmad and other dignitaries from academia, public private sectors and various food industries graced the event where role of safe food in the society was highlighted. Plenary discussions and question answer sessions were part of the program which enabled the technical learning of students and attendees. Speakers urged the policy makers to formulate the national food safety policy in Pakistan which will help in the provision of good quality and hazard free food to the public.
