PU alumni brings pride to Pakistan by wining S. Asia Physique C’ship


LAHORE: (Sunday, July 21, 2019): Usman Umer, an alumni of Punjab University and coach of PU Body Building Club, has bring laurels and pride for Pakistan and PU by winning South Asian Physique Championship 2019 held in Kathmandu, Nepal. According to details, Mr Umer won championship by defeating traditional rival India in the competition while Bhutan secured third position. By winning the competition, Mr Usman has been declared best physique holder in South Asia.
On winning the competition, the national anthem of Pakistan was played which raised Pakistan’s flag to new heights in sports. Mr Usman Umer was student MSc Sports Sciences at PU Department of Sports Sciences. He was student of Chairman Dr Zafar Iqbal Butt and earned Gold Medal in his studies in 2012. He was visiting lecturer of Punjab University while PU Additional Director Sports Mr Zubair Butt selected him as coach of PU Body Building Club 7 years ago. Under the coaching of Mr Zubair Butt, Mr Usman Umer has won the titles of Mr Punjab and Mr Pakistan in 2017 while he also clinched prestigious Yahya Classic title in 2019. PU Vice Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmed has congratulated Usman Umer on his landmark achievement. He said that PU administration has taken several initiatives to promote sports among the youth. He said that sports promote healthy activities in society and PU was encouraging players at all levels. He said that Mr Umer was pride of Pakistan and such heroes are contributing in bringing Pakistan’s name into limelight.
