Canadian scientist visits PU IAGS


LAHORE: (Wednesday, December 6, 2017): Renowned scientist Prof. Dr. Mounir G. Abou Haider from University of Toronto, Canada has visited Punjab University Institute of Agricultural Sciences to discuss mutual cooperation in the field. He is working on CLCuV research project in collaboration with Director IAGS Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saleem Haider. Dr Abou Haider has visited different laboratories of the institute and appreciated the research work being conducted at the IAGS.

He also said that Pakistan was in dire need to work more in the agriculture sector. During his visit to IAGS he participated in the meetings with the Additional Secretary, Agriculture (Planning), Government of the Punjab and Chief Executive, Punjab Agricultural Research Board (PARB). He appreciated both the institutions for their contribution towards agriculture. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saleem Haider said that cotton was cash crop in Pakistan and it was a major source of foreign exchange for Pakistan. So, cotton leave curl virus caused severe damage to the cotton and we are trying our best to control this virus under the collaborative research project, he added.
