LAHORE : (Tuesday, October 07): The nations, which are focusing on acquiring more and more knowledge, enjoy blessings of the nature, progress, prosperity and are dominant over the nations, which are lacking behind in the field of education. Punjab University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran expressed these views while addressing an orientation ceremony organized for new students at Gujranwala Campus. Gujranwala Campus Director General Prof Dr Muhammad Ehsan Malik, Additional Registrar Ahmad Ali Chattha, faculty members, new students and their parents were also present on the occasion.
Addressing the ceremony the VC Dr Mujahid Kamran advised the students to work hard and never show negligence in this regard. He said despite having ownership of 60%-70% of oil and other natural resources of the world, 135 crore Muslims are still far back from the developed world and their under influence because of lacking behind in the field of education. Quoting some verses of Holy Quran, he said we have been asked several times in the Quran to think and probe into things of the universe. He said until unless we do not make education an important factor in our lives, we can't progress in any field of life. He congratulated the students on getting admission in the Punjab University . He said that they will soon come to know the value of getting admissions in a university. Appreciating the discipline of PU Gujranwala Campus students as compare to Lahore Campus students, he said this thing will help them progress in practical life. He advised them not to be lazy in their work and behave well with other students regardless of sect and colour and also take care of their health and concentrate on personality building.
In his welcome address, Prof Dr Ehsan Malik said over 7000 students applied for admission in Business, Commerce, Law and Information Technology departments of the Gujranwala Campus and only 650 lucky students got admission. He said Gujranwala Campus is an exemplary campus of Punjab University . He said parents and teachers play a key role in making students good human beings and for playing positive role in society. He said teachers and parents must be role model for their children.
Later senior students presented poems and various skits. In the end, new students were sent to their classrooms along with their teachers.
