LAHORE (Friday, March 13): Punjab University Department of Psychology & Applied Psychology organized a seminar in the seminar hall of the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) in connection with International Women Day here at New Campus on Friday. Renowned beautician and Smile Again Head Musarrat Misbah was the chief guest on the occasion while Department of Psychology & Applied Psychology Chairperson Prof Dr Rukhsana Kausar, Prof Dr Najma Najam, Prof Dr Shahida Hasnain, Prof Dr Ehsan Malik, Prof Dr Rukhsana Bajwa, Prof Dr Samar Fatima, Prof Dr Nasira Jabeen, Lahore Medical & Dental College Principal Shaheena Asif, Dr Shahla J Akram, Dr Zeba and a large number of students were present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Musarrat Misbah said that there were a number of women problems and World Women Day should be celebrated everyday. She said women have to work hard and sacrifice a lot to progress therefore they must be prepared for it. She said women who take care of their families along with their professional routine matters spend happy and organized life. She said we must help helpless people when we achieve position in lives.

Prof Dr Najma Najam, referring to Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani, Liaqat Baloch, Javed Hashmi and others, said universities were a platform to bring positive change in the society and which help producing renowned leaders. She said 52% population of the country comprised females and with the same ratio there are female students in the educational institutions but in practical life, women are behind. She said there was a dire need to encourage women in this regard. She said women are best manager from their house matters to offices.

Dr Nasira Jabeen speaking on the occasion said we must salute to the women who achieved their targets in lives facing all the hurdles bravely. She said women were very brave, highly courageous and have a lot skills. She said for women development, we had to provide equal facilities to men and women and change behavrious in society.

In her address, Dr Zeba said that the objectives of female students after getting admission in varsity should not only to get degree but progress in practical life.

Dr Ehsan Malik said no man is hurdle in the development of women and this perception in our society is wrong that any brother or father hate her sister and daughter. He said being a man, he can feel the feelings of a father.

Later a painting exhibition of female artists was opened and the students of the department put their stalls of things of women interest.
