LAHORE: (May 13): Punjab University’s Students Adviser and Spokesman Dr Mujahid Ali Mansoori has condemned a statement wrongly attributed to former presidents of university students’ union and published in a section of press terming it as ‘fake and immoral’.
He said that this fake statement has been published with the names of former presidents of university students’ unions including Hafeez Khan, Abdul Shakoor, Jahangir Khan and Masood Khokhar. Dr Mansoori made it clear that Hafeez Khan has been settled in Canada and Abdul Shakoor in America over years and both are his good friends. Upon telephonic contact they expressed ignorance regarding such a statement and condemned it. They said that they have been settled outside Pakistan and they have no reasoning to issue statement on Punjab University.
Dr Mansoori said that Jahangir Khan has been settled in Britain for the last 17 years and he is his pupil and he believed that he could not issue such a negative statement against him. He said that Masood Khokhar’s name has also been used in the statement against him and elaborated that Khokhar is a good friend of him and could not be contacted.
The PU students’ adviser said such a fraud and immoral activity is against the teachings of Maulana Maudodi. He said that the decision to restrict the holding of book fair and closure of university for four days, was taken after 10 hour deliberations and contacts with law enforcement authorities at a meeting of a special committee chaired by Prof Dr Iftikhar Baloch and this committee was constituted by the deans committee under the chairmanship of Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof Azhar Ikram.
Dr Mansoori has appealed to the politicians who are supporting IJT from outside the university that they should use IJT like organized body for a national cause instead of encouraging its workers’ on illegal activities. |
