LAHORE: (May 15): Punjab University will establish ‘Dr Mehmood Ali Chair’ at its Centre for South Asian Studies (CSAS). The decision was taken at a meeting held under the chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran here at New Campus on Thursday.

Nazriya Pakistan Foundation Secretary and Punjab University former Vice-Chancellor Dr Rafique Ahmad, renowned writer Dr Anwar Ali Dil, his wife Aafiya Dil, brother of Dr Mehmood Ali, M M Ali, Prof Dr Mughees-ud-Din Sheikh, Prof Dr Saleem Mazhar, Prof Dr Najma Najam, Prof Dr Muhammad Naeem Khan, Prof Dr Shaukat Ali, Dr Mujahid Ali Mansoori and Prof Dr Musarrat Abid attended the meeting.

Dr Rafique Ahmad and Dr Anwar Ali suggested the vice-chancellor that a chair with the name ‘Dr Mehmood Ali Chair on Pakistan Ideology’ should be established keeping in view his services, at Punjab University, which is the oldest seat of learning and knowledge in Pakistan. It was also decided that an advisory committee will be made in this regard comprising Dr Mehmood Ali’s brother M M Ali and other family member as well beside others seasoned personalities.
