LAHORE (April 18): The students must participate in sports and other healthy activities to groom their personality and to prepare themselves to face the challenges of the practical life.

This was stated by Punjab University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran while addressing the 4-day Annual Sports Gala Prize Distribution Ceremony of PU College of Pharmacy at Old Campus cricket ground. College Principal Prof Dr Jamshaid Ahmad, PU Registrar Prof Dr Muhammad Naeem Khan, Prof Dr Bashir Ahmad, Dr Mubashar, Prof Dr Farrukh Zia, Dr Ahmad Mahmood and Director Sports Dr Asghar Javed and a large number of students were present there. He said that the students who have come from far away places and even other countries are there to learn, grow and become happy, and to achieve these targets, they must do their work regularly and indulge in healthy activities. In response to the great tributes in his honour, the VC said that he is an ordinary but committed teacher. He said even after becoming VC he is spending more time in Physics Department and less in the VC office because he is regularly taking classes. He enjoyed watching competition of pillow fight between the students and said that in every man of his age there is a hidden boy who forces him to do the same. He told the students that once he used to play hockey in the same ground and today’s sports have reminded him the days of his youth. He also read a poem about the importance of trees. He also announced Rs 2 cash lakh prizes for students who won various positions during the four-day sports event.

College of Pharmacy Principal Prof Dr Jamshaid Ahmad said that since his appointment as a lecturer of the Punjab University, Dr Mujahid Kamran had been working in various capacities in the varsity. He said after an eight years lapse, now we have teacher vice-chancellor who is working for the promotion of the university. He also thanked the sports organizing committee. Prof Dr Bashir Ahmad said he is very happy that today PU has a beloved leadership in the form of VC Dr Mujahid Kamran.

Earlier the Organizing Committee Head Prof Dr Mubashar said that VC Dr Mujahid Kamran is a multi-dimensional and genius man with President’s Pride of Performance Award, Bolan Award, Dr Abdus Salam Award, four books (one with Dr A Q Khan), 45-popular articles and 63-international standard research articles in his credit. Earlier, VC distributed prizes among winners of various sport competitions.
