LAHORE (July 18): Punjab University Admission Committee Chairman Prof Dr Jamil Anwar Chaudhry has said that the PU has decided not to accept the entry test of National Testing Service (NTS) for admissions in undergraduate and MA/MSc level. However, in the light of PU deans, chairmen and professors meeting, it has also been decided that some departments will conduct their own entry test regarding the nature of their subjects. He briefed about the PU admission policy 2008 to journalists in a press conference held in the committee room of vice-chancellor office here at New Campus on Friday.

Dr Jamil Anwar said the students coming to PU for admissions complete their studies from various national and international institutions and every institution has its separate system and that is why PU would itself take entry test for some specialized disciplines. He said entry test will be required for undergraduate level only in professional departments like Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics, College of Information Technology and Clinical Psychology. However, College of Art & Design will conduct its own entry test for undergraduate level admission after the declaration of FA/FSc result.
Dr Jamil said that those departments for which PU will conduct entry test at MA/MSc level included: Banking and Finance, Information Technology, Sports Science, Earth and Environmental Sciences, Statistics and Actuarial Sciences, Biochemistry and Biotechnology, Physics, Chemistry, Education and Research, Microbiology and Molecular Genetics, Zoology, Social and Cultural Studies, Social Work, MCom, Business Administration, Communication Studies, Administrative Sciences, Business Information Technology, Quality and Technology Management, English Language and Literature, Mycology and Plant Pathology, Mathematics, Space Science, High Energy Physics, Clinical Psychology and Integrated Mountain Research.
