LAHORE (April 18): In a major development to resolve Punjab University Law College issue, Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran addressed students of the Law College at the Environmental Law Centre auditorium and assured to provide them with academic leadership and address their concerns on merit.
The vice-chancellor replied to various questions of the students and removed certain misconception on the issue. He said that the present administration of the university is student-friendly and it wanted to promote full partnership at all levels and to ensure smooth continuity class work. He made it clear to the students that the administration would not accept any pressure of any students group and it had already made initiatives on various types of efforts to keep PU pressure-free because they are determined to provide pressure-free environment in which students could express their views and feelings freely. Dr Kamran said that he also accepts students right to protest, and added that the problem was created in the Law College due to misconception and lack of communication. He said Mr Ishfaq is a very respectable member of the Law College faculty and he is very much there in the PULC.
PU Adviser Students Affairs Dr Mujahid Ali Mansoori said PU is very concerned over the issue of academic leadership gap in the Law College and the administration would soon appoint a full-time professor doctor as principal of the college. He said the present administration would promote the culture of sports, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities to produce leadership abilities among PU students.
However, he said that students must remain in peace, harmony and unity because it is highly needed to defuse conflict situation among various groups of students. They must keep in mind that collectively they all are Punjabians and they should feel proud of it. It is mention worthy that the students of PULC have started taking classes regularly after the administration assurances to them to resolve all issues on merit. |
