LAHORE: (July 21): Punjab University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran chaired a meeting of PU New Campus Management Committee here at New Campus on Monday.

The meeting was briefed about the development projects including under construction buildings, sewerage system, electricity and drinking water. He expressed displeasure at slow work of certain projects and directed the contractors concerned to complete the work as soon as possible. He also took notice of wrong doings in the PU Project Director’s office especially slow movement of the files of different projects which caused monetary loss to varsity due to escalation in the prices of building materials etc.

The meeting decided to probe against those who caused delay of some projects. The VC also took strict notice of the low quality work of some contractors and directed the PU administration to ensure in process quality control during different stages of a project and submit reports in this regard. Dr Mujahid Kamran also issued orders and sought written explanation from two officials for installation substandard things in the new houses built for PU employees. He directed the sewerage contractor to do standardize leveling and compaction work so that rainwater could not damage the roads.

Dr Mujahid said expenditures of a project increase due to not completing it in time and therefore all projects should be completed well in time. Some contractors requested for their remaining dues on which the VC instructed the treasurer to take immediate action in this regard.

The VC also ordered completion of the remaining work of the new hostel and handed them over to the chairman hall council until Monday.
