Pakistan-India dialogue to be resumed at the earliest:
Aziz Ahmed Khan

LAHORE (Wednesday, March 25): Former Pakistani High Commissioner to India Aziz Ahmed Khan stressed the earliest possible resumption of various steps to improve the present state of Pakistan-India relationship. He was addressing the faculty members of the Punjab University and a selected gathering of postgraduate students on Wednesday on the subject of “Pakistan-India Relations: Future Prospects”.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran presided over the function. The auditorium was filled to its capacity with the senior students of various disciplines including Political Science , Pakistan Studies, Institute of Communication Studies and other disciplines.

In his address, Aziz Ahmed Khan briefly discussed the peace process and confidence building measures (CBMs) which had been initiated between Pakistan and India during last one decade. He was very optimistic about the future of Indo-Pak relations. He said that the leadership of the both countries has realized that if not friendly ties, at least good working relationship, is very vital for the peace and prosperity of both the countries. He said that people-to-people contacts between both countries have been proved very fruitful. Those Indians, who visited Pakistan either with various delegations or privately, they promoted the soft image of Pakistan and created a very good picture of a forward looking and moderate Pakistan . This augers well for the future and is bound to create a favourable environment for the solution of all problems and disputes between the two nuclear neighbours including the core issue of Kashmir .

In the end, Vice-Chancellor Dr Mujahid Kamran thanked Mr Khan's for his very positive and wide-ranging approach and deep insight on South Asia . He also praised the lively discussion that followed in which the faculty members as well as students participated very actively.
