LAHORE (July 25): Punjab University Pakistan Study Centre has been allowed to recruit teachers under the tenure track system (TTS) as per the criteria set by the Higher Education Commission.  The Centre’s BoG also approved budget of Rs 9.2 million for the financial year 2008-09 and recommended that the budget of fiscal year 2009-10 for the centre should be estimated Rs12.4 million.

This was decided in a meeting of the BoG of PU Pakistan Study Centre (PSC) held under the chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran here at New Campus on Friday.  Among those who attended the meeting included Prof Dr Rasul Bux Raees and Prof Dr Muhammad Waseem from LUMS, Prof Dr Sarfraz H Khawja from Quaid-e-Azam University, VC Virtual University Prof Dr Naveed A Malik, Zaheer Ahmad Choudhary from Federal Education Department, former Chief Secretary Pervaiz Masud, Prof Shaista Sonnu Sirajuddin, Prof Dr Mughees Uddin Sheikh, Prof Dr Tehsin Faroqi, Registrar Prof Dr Muhammad Naeem Khan and Director PSC Prof Dr Mussarat Abid.
Annual report of the centre was also approved after the detailed discussion. Meeting also reviewed the implementation status of the decisions taken at the last meeting of the BoG and approved the centre director’s anticipatory orders. Board members also evaluated the performance of the faculty members and recommended improvement of PhD programme and the appointments of assistant professors and associate professors at the centre.
