LAHORE: August 29: The Persian book titled ‘Dewan-e-Saeed Khan Multani (Qasaid, Ghazalyat-o-Maqattat' of Punjab University Department of Persian Chairman and Hazrat Syed Ali Hajveri Chair Incharge Dr Moeen Nizami has been published.

The book comprising 456 pages is published by Department of Persian, Oriental College. Detailed research on the life of Saeed Khan Qureshi Multani and his Persian poetry has been given in the book. Saeed Khan Multani had been a great poet, writer, political and literary personality in the period of Mughal Emperor Shahjahan. He had served on various positions from time to time in the period of Shahjahan, his four sons and especially Prince Murad. He also took part in many wars. He had been an ambassador and he never compromised on his self-respect. In Aurangzeb Alamgir period, he went back to Multan and constructed double storey mosque, an Aiwan for holding Mahafil-e-Naat, a beautiful garden and his tomb. Mosque and tomb are still there at Delhi Gate Multan but Aiwan and garden had been destroyed. The poetry of Saeed Khan comprises on Hamd, Naat, arifana kalam of great saints.

Earlier, Department of Persian's faculty member Prof Dr Bashir Hussain (late) and Allam Fikri (late) had written articles on Ameer Hussain Abidi and Saeed Khan respectively. Dr Moeen Niami is also a poet of Urdu and Persian languages, translator, researcher, writer of many books and an educationist. He also a known personality in Iran and his two books have won two ‘The Best Research Awards', gold medals, shields and appreciation certificates. It is worthy mention that earlier Punjab University faculty member Dr Naveed Shahzad's book ‘Jang-e-Azadi aur Punjab' has been published.
