PU takes control of four rooms from illegal occupants

LAHORE : (Tuesday, September 30): Punjab University administration has taken the control of four rooms from illegal occupants in Hostel No. 1. The lists of luggage and video record has been maintained. According to the details, after a heavy arms cache unearthed from a ground near Hostel No 1, the Vice-Chancellor Dr Mujahid Kamran took strict notice of activities of a student group and illegal occupants and he constituted a committee under the chairmanship of Dean Faculty of Science Dr Jamil Anwar and Chairman Hall Council Dr Saeed Ahmad Nagra.

The committee, on Tuesday, took possession of four rooms (No. 139, 140, 141, 142) situated on the ground floor of Hostel No 1. A list of things seized the rooms, including a fax machine, computer, pamphlets, posters and other luggage have been prepared and video record has also been maintained.

It is mention worthy that the rooms were basically constructed for assistant superintendents but since three decades these were in the use of a student group. The rooms were being used for political activities, beating and threatening the students and for accommodating external elements of other cities.

The other members of the committee were Prof Dr Bashir Ahmad, Prof Dr Iftikhar Baloch, Prof Dr Shaukat Ali, Prof Dr Makshoof Athar, Warden Hostel No 1 Prof Saeed Farooq, Superintendent Hostel No 1 Prof Dr Niaz Ahmad, Prof Dr Muhammad Akhtar, Prof Dr Liaqat Ali, Prof Muhammad Nawaz Dogar, Prof Zahim Karim Khan, Malik Muhammad Zaheer, Sheikh Muhammad Ali and Chief Security Officer Abdul Rehman Sial.
