PU Book Fair: Record sale on last day

LAHORE: (May 30): Punjab University’s 3-day Book Fair 2008 organized in connection with 125-year celebrations of the varsity at main corridor of New Campus concluded here on Friday.

The Book Fair attracted a large number of students, teachers, journalists, educationists, writers and people from various walks of life and purchased books upto 50% discount prices.

Those personalities who visited the Book Fair on last day include Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Shami, Bushra Rehman, Ajmal Niazi, Soaib Bin Aziz, Taseer Mustafa, Sheikh Abdul Rahim and Shahbaz Anwar Khan. They visited the book stalls and highlighted the importance of book and appreciated the administration for organizing the book fair.

Students of Punjab University Laboratory School, Punjab University Model School, Lahore Cadet School and other institutions also visited the book fair. A record number of books were sold on the last day and students and people purchased books on low prices. To build university image, special arrangements were made to put a stamp of ‘Punjab University Book Fair 2008’ on the purchased books.

It is mentioned worthy that renowned book sellers and publishers including Oxford Publishers, Dogar Publishers, Book Home, Al-Faisal Book Publishers, Fiction House, Takhleeqat Nastaaliq Publishers, Rabia Publishers, Adabi Publishers, Iqbaliyat, Minhaj-ul-Quran Publisher, Al-Ikhwan Publishers and others established their stalls during the 3-day Book Fair and provided upto 50% discount facility to the visitors on books. A PU publication stall was also set up and it was the first among the long queue in the main corridor.
