VC praises creative work of students
LAHORE (Tuesday, March 31): Punjab University College of Art & Design (PUCAD) students have displayed their creations in the form of posters, pamphlets, calendars, paintings, sculptures and book illustrations at a 3-day exhibition. Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran inaugurated the exhibition on Tuesday.

In the main gallery of the college, the students of Master of Fine Arts (Graphic Design) have displayed their assignments in the form of posters, calendars and wall hangings. The vice-chancellor visited the stall of every student and get explanation of their work from every artist student while their teachers accompanied them. Most students worked on social problems whereas some others highlighted soft image of Pakistan in their work. Many students reflected their positiveness in their work by inscribed various public service messages in their posters and pamphlets. Sana Sajid worked on “Peace”, Nida Ejaz on “Melody Moving On”, Saima Zaffar on “Pakistan Tourism”, Syed Ameer Ali on “No War”, Zeeshan Karmani worked on the topic of “Brain Drain to Brain Gain in Pakistan ”. Saba Saif worked on “Agriculture Education”, Sana Imtiaz on “Sports”, Shuja on “Special Children”. Muhammad Saeed's work highlighted “The Harmful Effect of Rash Driving” while Fatima Saman worked on “Image Building on Pakistan” Her creations reflected various historical monuments and other tourism potentials of our country. Some students also worked against terrorism and extremism. A big poster inscribed with the slogan “Kill Terrorism” was displayed at the entrance of the gallery.
The MFA (Graphic Design) students had worked under the supervision of Assistant Professor Amjad Pervaiz, who was also present there and he also briefed VC about the work of his students.

In the second category paintings featuring some important social issues of the country were displayed in a room next to the main gallery. A student Asad Ali Changazi's painting reflected the deep-rooted chir (Power) politics of the country. He has criticized the various weaknesses of the rulers in his own satirical style by using symbol of the chair in his paintings. His painting urged the visitors to prefer nationalism (country) over provincialism.
The vice-chancellor alongwith Principal Prof Zafaullah, Israr Chishti and other teachers visited another art gallery in the college where some other students had displayed their clay-work, sculptures and their masterpieces of wooden artwork.
In the third category the vice-chancellor visited the exhibition of book illustration work. Some nine students under the supervision of Miss Afia had displayed their work in the form of titles of various renowned books.
The VC Dr Mujahid Kamran praised the creative work of the students of all three categories. The exhibition will continue until Thursday.
