LAHORE (Thursday, March 05): United Nations Department of Public Information has selected a student of Punjab University Law College (PULC) as part of the 9-member international Secretariat to organize the first ever UN sponsored Model UN Conference in Geneva, to be held in August this year.
Syed Nishat Kazmi is the only student from Pakistan and one of the two students selected by the UNDPI, New York from Asia to form the Secretariat of Global Model UN Conference 2009. Nishat Kazmi is attending a special workshop designed for Secretariat officials in New York from March 4-6.
Syed Nishat Kazmi has led PU delegations in many national and international competitions which include the University's successful participations and best delegation awards in Munster University Model UN Conference, 2008 Germany and European Model UN Conference, 2008 in Netherlands .
He is currently serving as member of the Youth Parliament of Pakistan. He has represented Pakistan in various international forums including G-8 Youth Exchange to Afghanistan , Exploring Cultures initiative in Beijing China and as member of the Punjab University delegation to the European Parliament in 2008.
Law College Principal Shazia Qureshi congratulated the student on his wonderful achievement and said that selection of Syed Nishat Kazmi is not only a matter of pride for Law College but also for the entire nation.
