Dr. Saad Malook earned his PhD in Philosophy from the University of Canterbury, Christchurch, New Zealand, on the dissertation, “The Ethics of Reverence for Humanity: A Rationale for a Cosmopolitan Common Mind for Global Peace,” which explores the universal ethical foundations for directing collective action toward global peace. Before pursuing his PhD, he completed an MA in English Literature and a BA in English Literature and Psychology from FC College, Lahore, and an MA in Philosophy from the University of the Punjab. He was awarded the Khawaja Ghulam Sadiq Gold Medal, the Punjab University Gold Medal, and the K. B. Sheikh Nanak Bakhsh Silver Medal for his outstanding academic achievements in his master’s studies in Philosophy. He joined the Department of Philosophy at the University of the Punjab as a Lecturer on February 14, 2006. In addition to teaching, Dr. Malook serves as the Editor of Al-Hikmat: A Journal of Philosophy, the department’s official research journal, founded in 1967 by Dr. C. A. Qadir. He has also been a member of academic bodies, including the Faculty Board of Studies in Arts & Humanities and the Board of Studies in Philosophy. Dr. Malook has authored numerous research papers in HEC-recognized journals. He occasionally contributes opinion pieces to Dawn, one of Pakistan’s leading newspapers. Dr. Malook’s academic interests and areas of expertise include Moral and Political Philosophy, Development Ethics, Environmental Ethics, AI Ethics, Philosophy of Social SciencesPhilosophy of Education, and the Philosophy of Muhammad Iqbal.
