    | Institute of Islamic Studies strives to develop a learning community  that aims at academic excellence. The institute has dynamic and visionary  leadership, and is able to foster Islamic values. It endeavors to produce, in a stimulating and  innovative educational environment, scholars possessing genuine faith,  comprehensive Islamic knowledge and intellectual ingenuity, which enables them  to respond to the enormous challenges faced in a continuously changing global  society. We also intend to orient our students' academic and religious  experience to help them become genuinely committed to contribute to the public  good with the ultimate view to earning success in this life and the hereafter. |

    | 1. | To help the students grasp the essential and  genuine concepts of Islam as a way of life which can effectively identify and  resolve the problems faced in contemporary world. | 
  
    | 2. | To equip the students with the deeper  understanding of Islamic values. | 
  
    | 3. | To teach students how to utilize the basic  techniques of research to contribute to the existing body of academic research  while observing principles of honesty and objectivity. | 
  
    | 4. | To enable students to learn the Quran and the  Quranic commentary in a way that they understand how its teachings educate  conscience and ameliorate behaviors. Special emphasis is laid on understanding  how the guidance of the Quran relates to contemporary issues and circumstances. | 
  
    | 5. | To acquaint the students with major events in  the evolution of Hadith and Fiqh (Islamic Jurisprudence) and Fiqh Al-Sunnah,  and other major disciplines of Islamic Studies. | 
  
    | 6. | To enable students to serve as faithful  representatives of Islam, i.e. they diligently follow Allah’s injunctions,  emulate His Messenger (SAWS) and his companions, and exhibit and promote a  culture of patience towards religious diversity. | 
  
    | 7. | It envisages an Islam based on sound knowledge  that the students have acquired for themselves and which they carry back into  their communities with a commitment to respect and serve others. |

    | Introduction of the Programme | 
  
    | Islam exhorts their followers to be useful human  beings in all dimension of life specifically in economic sphere so that they  would have resources to serve the humanity rather being handicapped and  deprived. The ancient jurists developed the discipline of Fiqh al-muamlat that was an intelligent effort to provide theoretical framework for flexible  Islamic financial system. The discipline of Islamic economics has been built on  these genuine ancient juristic ideological foundations.The radical change in the economic universehas  compelled the whole academic realms to transform their fundamentals of  knowledge and ideas. Hence, the curriculums of Islamic Studies were also  revisited and to provide sound knowledge of Islamic economics to keep the  Muslim youth abreast with modern overwhelming economic revolution and cope with  rapid economic change.
 Master of Philosophy (M.Phil) in Islamic  Economics has been launched to produce the true scholars that are need of the  day to act as bridge between modern world and religious world. The curriculum  has been aimed to provide best knowledge of dynamic financial system of Islam  at optimum level to the new generation so that they would be able to present  Islam as a practical and progressive religion. It has also been aspired to  provide such researchers to the Islamic societies that are capable to float  novel ideas to devise and formulate Islamic financial institutions absolutely  on Islamic foundations without any ideological piracy. Their vision, passion,  pace and momentum must be originated from Islamic sources.

    | Curriculum of Master of  Philosophy (M.Phil.) in Islamic Economics has been developed keeping in view  market needs. A handsome theoretical and practical knowledge is imparted to  enrich the students for professional career in the field of Islamic finance.  The graduates are quiteeligible to work in Islamic Banks as Sharia advisor and  Sharia Implementation facilitator. They can also opt the professional career in  Takaful companies on good emoluments. Even the graduates are hired by the  conventional banks as Sharia advisor launch Riba free products and to hunt the  religious segment of investors. The Mudarba companies are also engaging Islamic  scholars for the smooth functioning of their sharia based systems. The private  and Public sector universities are initiating new disciplines of Islamic  Economics and Islamic Banking & Finance and need of faculty is always there  for learned persons. |

    | Highly  qualified professionals and instructors from the academic world of the universities,  especially professors of Punjab University who have earned doctorate degrees  and significant relevant professional experience and expertise will be engaged  and hired. In addition to Punjab University faculty, the professionals working  in renowned financial institutions and business sector holding relevant  qualification are recruited to deliver all or part of some courses. |
