Instructions for Author
 
 
1. Instruction: only subject focused articles will be considered

2. The Research Journal of South Asian Studies is published bi-annually in January and July by the Centre for South Asian Studies (CSAS), the University of the Punjab , Quaid-i-Azam Campus, Lahore . Phone +92 – 42 - 99231143. Original works (not previously published) on contemporary affairs of South Asian politics, economy, society, security, culture and literature may be submitted by 15 th October for the winter issue and 15 th April for the summer issue. The articles may include reports of empirical studies, review articles, theoretical articles, methodological articles and case studies.

MANUSCRIPT SUBMISSION

The research papers of about 20 to 3o pages for full length articles and 10 to 20 pages for short reports may be sent via e-mail at: sasj.csas@pu.edu.pk or on a computer disk along with a hard copy at CSAS address. Submissions should include current addresses, telephone and fax numbers, and e-mail addresses of all authors as well as author’s short biographies of 100 words maximum for all authors.

Manuscripts should be prepared in accordance with the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 5 th edition (APA). Manuscripts may include title, abstract, text, notes, references, tables, figures, and appendixes. Type the abstract itself as a single paragraph in block format (i.e., without paragraph indentation), and do not exceed 120 words. The entire manuscript should be double-spaced using 12-point Times New Roman font.

Notes may be substantive or explanatory or may identify sources, according to where they are used and what information needs to be conveyed. APA journals require reference lists, not bibliographies. References in APA publications are cited in text with an author-date citation system and are listed alphabetically in the References section in APA style.

One Work by Multiple Authors
When a work has two authors, always cite both names every time the reference occurs in text.
When a work has three, four, or five authors, cite all authors the first time the reference occurs; in subsequent citations, include only the surname of the first author followed by et al. ( not italicized and with a period after “al”) and the year if it is the first citation of the reference within a paragraph:
Wasserstein, Zappulla, Rosen, Gerstman, and Rock (1994) found [Use as first citation in text.]
Wasserstein et al. (1994) found [Use as subsequent first citation per paragraph thereafter.]
Wasserstein et al. found [Omit year from subsequent citations after first citation within a paragraph.]

In text, use a short title for the parenthetical citation: ("New Drug," 1993). Precede page numbers for newspaper articles with p. or pp.)
Daily newspaper article, discontinuous pages
Schwartz, J. (1993, September 30). Obesity affects economic, so¬cial status. The Washington Post, pp. Al, A4. (If an article appears on discontinuous pages, give all page num¬bers, and separate the numbers with a comma e.g., pp. Bl, B3, B5-B7).
