PU CEES organizes seminar on peace


LAHORE: (Friday, November 24, 2017): PU College of Earth and Environmental Sciences in collaboration with Center for Health and Gender Equality (CHANGE) organized peace seminars at Department of Space Sciences and CEES under project “inspiring the future”. The training sessions were envisioned for sensitizing students to promote tolerance and peace in university premises and society. CEES organized a seminar on importance of environmental peace accompanied by a role play that reflected the importance of communication and breaking the communication barriers. Students also presented a documentary in which they engaged the students and faculty members to highlight importance of peace. A quiz competition was also organized regarding understanding of peace and tolerance. Department of Space science involved students through different innovative ideas including ‘seeds of peace” in which students who took admission were considered as seeds. A seminar on role and importance of academia in peace promotion” was also organized. Later, the participants took out ‘peace walk’ to spread the message in university. CEES Principal Prof. Dr. Sajid Rasheed Ahmed, Senior analyst Salman Abid, Shahid Babar, Grandson of Moulana Muhammad Ali Johar, Department of Space Science Chairman Prof. Dr. Syed Amir Mahmood and CHANGE Executive Director Mumtaz Hussain highlighted importance of peace and tolerance in society and advised them to play their role in promotion of harmony.
