Unlocking Career Opportunities through Professional Skills

The Department of Gender Studies, University of the Punjab, Lahore, in collaboration with the Centre for Social Development and Social Entrepreneurship (CSDSE), successfully organized an expert-led training workshop titled “Unlocking Career Opportunities through Professional Skills” on Tuesday, 27 January 2026, for undergraduate and postgraduate students.
The workshop aimed to enhance students’ professional competencies, particularly in the areas of CV and resume writing, communication skills, interview preparation, and career planning, in line with current market demands.
The distinguished trainers for the session were Dr. Basharat Ullah, Professor, Faculty of Management Sciences (FOMS), University of Central Punjab, and Mr. Muhammad Zubair, Deputy Director, Women Development Department. The event also featured Dr. Tahira Jabeen, Director, Centre for Social Development and Social Entrepreneurship, as Guest Speaker. The session was moderated by Dr. Lubna Razaq, Focal Person, CCPC–PU, while Dr. Fauzia Saleem Alvi, Chairperson, Department of Gender Studies, University of the Punjab, graced the occasion as Guest of Honor.
The session commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by a warm welcome address by Dr. Fauzia Saleem Alvi, who extended her gratitude to the trainers, guest speaker, faculty members, and students for their active participation. She appreciated the efforts of Dr. Lubna Razaq for organizing such a timely and impactful workshop, emphasizing the importance of professional skill development for students in today’s competitive job market.
Dr. Basharat Ullah delivered an engaging and interactive lecture on effective CV writing, professional communication skills, and interview techniques. He shared practical tips on confident body language, presentation skills, and how to tailor resumes according to industry requirements. His interactive style encouraged students to reflect on their personal strengths and career goals.
Mr. Muhammad Zubair shared his valuable experiences as an interviewer and provided insightful guidance on how students can improve their CVs and prepare for competitive examinations such as PPSC, PMS, and CSS. He highlighted key aspects of interview etiquette, self-presentation, and strategic preparation.
Dr. Tahira Jabeen, in her address, emphasized the significance of social development and organizational behavior in shaping professional growth. She encouraged students to develop soft skills, leadership qualities, and adaptability to succeed in diverse work environments.
The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Fauzia Saleem Alvi, who acknowledged the contributions of all speakers and organizers. She distributed certificates among the participants, trainers, and guest speaker, marking the successful completion of the training session.
The event proved to be highly beneficial, equipping students with practical tools and confidence to navigate their future careers effectively.
