Students of BS (hons) Management at Institute of Administrative Sciences (IAS) had an industrial tour of Nestle’ Pakistan Students of BS (hons) Management at Institute of Administrative Sciences (IAS) had an industrial tour of Nestle’ Pakistan Sheikhupura Plant on 6th December 2016 with Dr. Shahid A. Zia – adjunct faculty member, Ms. Sameen Zaki – Manager Career Advisory & External Linkages and Ms. Sidra Rashid – Asst. Manager Career Advisory & External Linkages. Before visit of the factory area, chemical engineer, plant manager and quality assurance manager briefed students about the complete floor plan of the plant along with the major statistics of its production. They were made aware of the hazards at production plant and safety measures to be taken in case of any sort of emergency. Students were provided with safety overalls, caps and ear-plugs for visiting manufacturing plant. Sheikhupra plant of Nestle’ is 7th largest plant in terms of its production globally with products including packaged milk, juices, breakfast cereals and infant formula milk. Students were given a complete overview of milk collection and processing unit. Plant managers were readily available and welcomed the student queries about the management of a huge set up of around 3000 employees. Nestle’ team also showed to the students their high technology biochemistry laboratory that is dedicated for high quality research on their products in order to provide nutrition, health and wellness to its consumers. On their visit, team Nestle’ also shared about their CSR projects and how they are contributing in building the community by providing employment to the under-privileged class in the neighborhood of their factory area. After the visit, Nestle’ team members were presented IAS souvenirs by Dr. Shahid A. Zia and Ms. Sameen Zaki on behalf of the institute and showed their immense gratitude for investing their time for students’ learning. Team at nestle was quite hospitable and the working environment was highly appreciated by all the student visitors. IAS intends to strengthen the profile of its students by providing them with greater exposure and to make them go-through the observational and experiential learning process before the students graduate and take steps towards their career.
