Access to books was hard in the past: Dr Zahoor


LAHORE: (Thursday, February 18, 2016): Punjab University Hajver Chair’s head Prof Emeritus Prof Dr Zahoor Ahmed Azhar said that the access to books was hard in the past while now books are available even on the internet. He said that he attended the lectures of Arabs to learn Arabic languages enthusiastically and wholeheartedly. He was addressing sixth ceremony of compiling oral history of Punjab University at Al-Raazi Hall here on Thursday. PU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran, Dr Khawaja Muhammad Zakria, Dr Muhammad Akram Shah, Dr Javed Iqbal Qazi, Dr Naumana Amjad, Chief Librarian Haseeb Ahmed Paracha, faculty members and a large number of students were present on the occasion.

Addressing the ceremony, he said that PU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran had brought revolution to the culture of the university and the university had been put on the road to progress. He said that as per previous traditions of University Oriental College, it was hard for two professors to work together. However, he said, he, Dr Khawaja Muhammad Zakria and Dr Muhammad Akram Shah worked together for development of the institute. He said that the new generation must be aware of the fact that Pakistan was the finest place on earth with abundance of minerals, fruits, all weathers and other blessings of nature. He advised the students to play their role in national development.
