LAHORE: (Tuesday, October 25, 2016): A girl, aspirant for admission on sports basis in Punjab University, committed suicide for domestic reasons at Girls Sports Hostel No 5 at news campus on Tuesday, after hanging her with her dupatta from the hook of fan. According to details, Ayesha Furqan of Attock, 22, had done her B.A and applied for admission on sports basis in the categories of athlete and cricket. A PU spokesman said that the merit lists of the trial were due to be displayed in 3 or 4 days. She was residing in Hostel No 5 since October 23 with her cousin, Sadia Khalid, a student of BS (Hons) Sports Sciences session 2012-16, as paying guest after approval from university hostel administration as per rules and regulations. After receiving information about the suicide, the university administration and police officials rushed to the scene and her body was moved to the morgue after initial inquiry. The spokesman said that she was an excellent athlete and cricket player and she had been selected. However, merit lists were due to be displayed in a few days, he added. He said that after hostel administration approached her relatives, they said that there were some domestic problems going on and may be for that reason she might have committed suicide.
