Celebrations of 139th Birth Anniversary of Allama Muhammad Iqbal at Institute of Administrative Sciences (IAS)


In Commemoration of the contributions by Poet-of-the-East, Allama Muhammad Iqbal on his 139th birth anniversary, a special ceremony was organized at Institute of Administrative Sciences (IAS) on November 10th 2016 entitled: ‘Shair-e-Mashriq ki Yaad Mein' . The event formally began with observance of National anthem followed by Talawat-e-Quraan-e-Pak. Prof. Dr. Nasira Jabeen, Dean Faculty of Economics & Management Sciences and Director IAS welcomed the audience and briefed that the purpose of the special day celebration was to pay respect & homage to the great philosopher, visionary thinker, scholar and great leader of Pakistan movement whose ultimate vision, optimism and struggle lead to the existence of Pakistan. She said, Iqbal's poetry and vision transcends time horizon and his message of peace, tolerance, optimism and active attitude towards life is universal for which he will be remembered always.
Passionate students with dedicated faculty & staff members prepared an inspiring program for audience including Manqabat and Taht-ul-lafz Kalam-e-Iqbal & speeches on two famous verses from Iqbal's poetry. From the entire philosophy of Iqbal, participants reaffirmed Iqbal's prime message on “Khudi”. Five students delivered speeches on two verses: (i) Zara Num Ho Tou Yeh Matti Bohat Zerkhaiz Hay Saaqi, and (ii) Jawanon ko Peerun Ka Ustaad Ker.
Guest speaker for the ceremony Dr. Saad Ullah Asad, an organizational psychologist, management & leadership trainer and a scholar of Iqbaliyaat delivered a motivational talk on Iqbal's Vision on leadership for youth using analogy of “Shaheen”, its' life stages and leadership qualities such as vision, fearlessness, vigilance and perseverance. He emphasized on the fact that one's thoughts become one's words and words shape the reality so it is very important to instill in our youth to have positive thoughts. Dr. Saad talked on global leadership as it has been explained by Iqbal in his poetry. He gave the audience food for thought and shared with them the ways and means to achieve global leadership i.e. through (i) Self Knowledge, (ii) Capacity Building, and (iii) Excellence. His message for youth was to have hope and free themselves from petty fears. Dr. Saad shared inspiring examples with the audience about change that is always painful but it reaps renaissance of new horizons and spirit of leadership. He encouraged students to actualize the power of believing that can make things happen and power of words to say that can make things possible.
After Dr. Saad's enlightening talk, a group of students presented Manqabat Kalam-e-Iqbal on (i) Auron Ka Hay Pyam Aur, Mera Pyaam Aur Hay (ii) Khudi Ka Sirr-e-Nihaan, and (iii) Her Lehza Hay Momin ki Nai Shan Nai Aan. Tah-tul-Lafz Kalam-e-Iqbal was also presented by three students and a faculty member including (i) Shikwa, Jawab-e-Shikwa, (ii) Kabhi Aey Haqeeqat-e-Muntazir, and (iii) Jab Ishq Sikhata Hay Aadab-e-Khud Agahi.
As a token of appreciation, institutional souvenir and bouquet of flowers was presented to the guest speaker and certificates were distributed among the position holders of speech competition. A large number of students faculty members and staff attended the event.
